The 36-month Periodontics program prepares residents in all aspects of clinical Periodontology, including: anatomy; implantology; photography; research methodology; review of scientific literature; hand skills and techniques; evidence-based therapies; and scientific writing.  Emphasis is placed on the interaction of Periodontists with other specialists and with general dentists. Residents also gain teaching experience in didactic and clinical settings. The program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.

Residents can enroll in a master of science program in biomedical implants and tissue engineering concurrently with the Periodontics certificate program.
